Chloe x Halle (stylized as CHLOE X HALLE) is an American contemporary R&B duo, made up of two sisters named Chloe and Halle Bailey (born July 1, 1998, and March 27, 2000, respectively).
Chloe x Halle first started by doing covers of pop songs on youtube. It was their rendition of Beyoncé's own "Pretty Hurts" that caught the attention of Beyoncé and her label Parkwood Entertainment imprint in 2013.
Their debut EP, Sugar Symphony, was released on April 29, 2016. The EP was accompanied by its singles "Drop " and "Fall". Later in 2016, they made cameo appearances in Beyoncé's Lemonade visual album[1]. They later served as Beyoncé's opening act for the European leg of The Formation World Tour.[2]
In the spring of 2017, Chloe x Halle released their self-described, "This is not an album" and "not really a mixtape" critically acclaimed project, The Two of Us, which featured brand new music mostly written and produced by the duo. The project is featured on Rolling Stones's Best R&B Albums of 2017 list.[3]
In December of 2017, Chloe x Halle released the theme song for "GROWN-ISH," the "BLACK-ISH" spin-off, "Grown". They were added to the cast as series regulars, after initially signing on for recurring roles.[4]They then followed-up quickly by releasing their debut album title track "The Kids Are Alright," featured prominently in the series debut episode.[5]
On March 23, 2018, the duo finally released their debut album "The Kids Are Alright", written and executively produced by themselves.
"Our debut album The Kids Are Alright means so much to us," state Chloe x Halle. "This is three years of self-discovery, vulnerability, and growth, all put into one album. We've put our hearts and souls into every lyric, every beat, and we cannot wait for the world to hear."[6]
"The Kids Are Alright" also features "Warrior", from the "A Wrinkle in Time" soundtrack.
On May 31, 2018, it was announced that they would serve as the opening act for the US leg of Beyonce and Jay-Z's On the Run II Tour, alongside DJ Khaled.
