Vincent Neil Wharton (born February 8, 1961) is an American musician, best known as the lead vocalist of heavy metal band Mötley Crüe. Mötley Crüe.
During the 60s, his family shifted to southern California from Inglewood to Watts, before finally deciding to settle down in Glendora, attending Sunflower Intermediate School and later Royal Oak High School. He had an interest in music while he was young; Neil was also interested in surfing, baseball, football, and wrestling.
Neil was discovered during his performance with his group, Rockandi in 1979, following which he teamed up with Mötley Crüe in 1980. Neil was closely acquainted with Tommy Lee in secondary university. Mötley Crüe was looking for lead vocalist performer and was stunned by Neil after listening to him through Lee. Mötley Crüe launched its first record, “Too Fast for Love”, the same year. The group then started a sequence of hit produces throughout the decade—1983’s “Shout at the Devil”, which helped the group for recognition as a big act in rock and roll, 1985’s “Theatre of Pain”, 1987’s hit “Girls, Girls, Girls” and their highest-selling record, 1989’s “Dr. Feelgood”—establishing the quartet as one of the greatest rock/metal bands of the ’80s.
Following the music group’s first compilation album Decade of Decadence 81-91 Mötley Crüe separated ways with Vince Neil in Feb 1992. Neil finalized a deal with Warner Brothers for $4 million. He managed to earn a $2 million advance on his first records. He filed a case and sued Mötley Crüe for 25% of their future earnings and charged $5 million in losses for being fired.
In 1992, Neil launched his first individual album. He mentioned that the music was written in 20 minutes with his friends Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw. The solo “You’re Invited (But Your Friend Can’t Come)” was presented on the Encino Man soundtrack.
